Shame on city pair for stifling dissent

Regarding the article, Ward warrior’s not a citizen (Jan. 13).

It’s about time that Tom Gosnell and Bernie MacDonald woke up to the fact London is now a large city, not some small country hamlet; that many of the people living here have come from somewhere else; and that all these people have as much interest in the city in which they live as those who were born here, and an equal right to a system of governance of which they approve.

The personal attacks on Sam Trosow are totally inappropriate and repugnant. That these attacks should have been made by people voted in to represent the whole city is particularly despicable.

Imagine London represents the views of a great many people — myself and my family included. My husband and I have raised four children here, two of whom have served with Canada’s armed forces. We have all been actively involved in the community and, yes, we are all citizens of Canada.

Are our views as supporters of Imagine London also to be discounted as unworthy of attention? It is certainly time for change when Londoners are treated with such disdain by their political representatives at city hall.
